Dinkey Lakes Wilderness
Located in the Sierra National Forest in California.
The 30,000 acre Dinkey Lakes Wilderness is on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada southeast of
Huntington Lake and northwest of Courtwright Reservoir. This wilderness is separated from the John
Muir Wilderness by the Ershim/Dusy Off-Highway Vehicle Route. The area is characterized by
moderately sloping terrain with high peaks near Dinkey Lakes. Vegetation includes stands of white fir,
red fir and Jeffrey pine. Interspersed mountain meadows and barren rocky slopes add to the scenic beauty
of the wilderness. Most of the area is above 8,000 feet in elevation, with the highest point, Three Sisters
Peak, reaching an elevation of 10,619 feet. Visitor permits required for the area.
