Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Directions: This refuge consists of tracts at both ends of Humboldt Bay. For further directions
call or write the refuge office.
Primary Wildlife: Important staging area (especially spring) for the Pacific black brant and other
migratory waterfowl. -- Migration staging area and wintering area for shorebirds.
Habitat: When completely acquired, the refuge will contain approximately 9,000 acres of diked
marshes and seasonal wetlands, salt marshes, mudflats, and open water. Approximately 2,200 acres are
currently in the refuge.
