Directions: In Douglas, take 10th Street E to the 1400 block. Office is
adjacent to the Douglas Fire Department building.
Primary Wildlife: Endangered Yaqui topminnow and Yaqui chub.
Threatened beautiful shiner.
Habitat: 2,309 acres in San Bernadino, 1,240 acres in Leslie Canyon
consisting of desert riparian forest, perennial streams, and ponds, mesquite bosque, and
desert grasslands
Recreation and Education: Hunting, wildlife observation and study, and
photography.
Special Note: The Refuge is one of the best bird watching areas in the nation.
Visits to the Refuge require a Special Use Permit which is available at the Refuge
Office. Take plenty of water, a hat, and sun protection.
