Camping is a traditional way to enjoy national parks. Grand Teton National Park operates five campgrounds for your camping pleasure. The fee is $8 per night per site. Jenny Lake Campground is open to tents only. Other campgrounds will accommodate tents, trailers and recreational vehicles. All campgrounds have modern comfort stations but none has utility hookups. The maximum length of stay is 7 days at Jenny Lake and 14 days at all other National Park Service campgrounds.
NPS campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis and advance reservations are NOT accepted. Campgrounds fill to capacity during July and August. Approximate filling times are listed. For current status of campgrounds, contact the entrance stations or visitor centers. Additional camping facilities are available in the nearby national forests and other areas outside the park.
Camping is not permitted along roadsides, in overlooks nor in parking areas. Doubling-up in campsites is not permitted and there are no overflow facilities.

Gros Ventre - 260 sites, trailer dumping station, May 1 - Oct 7, May not fill to evening.
Jenny Lake - 49 sites restricted to tents, May 21 - Sept 26, fills by 8 a.m.
Signal Mountain - 86 sites, trailer dumping station, May 7 - Oct 10, fills by 10 a.m.
Colter Bay - 310 sites, showers, laundry, trailer dumping station, propane available, May 21- Sept 26, fills by noon.
Lizard Creek - 60 sites, June 11 - Sept 6, fills by 2 p.m.
Group Camping - Colter Bay Campground has ten group campsites and Gros Ventre Campground has five. Site capacities range from 10 to 75 people. The nightly use fee is $2.00 per person. Organized groups such as youth, religious and educational groups may use the group campsites. Advance reservations are required. Requests for reservations should be made between January 1 and June 1 by writing to: Chief Ranger, Grand Teton National Park, Moose, Wyoming 83012.
Trailer Villages - Colter Bay and Flagg Ranch Trailer Villages are concessioner-operated trailer facilities with full hook-ups, showers and laundry. Colter Bay has 112 sites. Flagg Ranch has 100 trailer and 75 tent sites. Advance reservations are advisable.
Weather
The area is known for long, cold winters. The first heavy snows fall by November 1 and continue through March with snow and frost possible during any month. Summer days are usually in the 70's and 80's with cool nights in the 40's, and summer thunderstorms are common. Mild to cool temperatures are normal through September and October. Raingear is recommended during spring, summer and fall. Sub-zero temperatures are common throughout winter and demand multi-layered clothing, hats, mittens and cold weather boots.
The average weather ranges described below are at valley elevations. Temperatures are cooler in the mountains, with more moisture. Be aware that mountain weather changes quickly . Check the weather forecast before starting your trip.
Spring: late April-June Mild days and cold nights intersperse with rain and occasional snow. Valley lakes usually thaw by late May. Snow level may remain just above valley elevation until mid-June. Average ranges: temperature 22-710, snow 0-11", rainfall 1-3".
Summer: July-August Warm days and cool nights prevail, with afternoon thunder showers common. Snow level gradually retreats, with mountain divides free of snow by August. Average ranges: temperature 39- 810, rainfall 1-2".
Fall: September-November Sunny days and cold nights alternate with rain and snow-storms. Snow becomes persistent by late fall. Average range: temperature 15-690, snow 1- 25", rainfall 1-2".
Winter: late November-April Snow blankets Jackson Hole with accumulations of ten feet common in the mountains and two to five feet in the valley. Blizzards are common with occasional sunny days and frigid nights between storms. Average range: temperature 2-310, extreme -430, snow 33-49".
Transportation
Visitors may travel east and north from Salt Lake City, UT, east from Boise, ID, or south from western Montana, to Idaho Falls, ID, thence to Teton Pass or up the Snake River Canyon to Jackson, WY, thence north 12 miles to the Moose Visitor Center. Visitors may travel west from Riverton, WY, or Casper, WY, over Togwotee Pass and thence into the park's east entrance. Visitors may also travel south from Yellowstone National Park, the John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Memorial Parkway and through Grand Teton's north entrance.
To Park: by car via I-70, I-80, I-25, I-15 and State 191; by tour bus on commercial tours only (no public bus service is available to Jackson or Grand Teton); Commercial and charter air service to Jackson Hole Airport with local taxi and rental car service from the airport.
In Park: personal or rental vehicles, personal or rental bicycles, limited shuttle service with park concessioners, hiking.
