Shenandoah National Park Camping and Lodging
Shenandoah has four campgrounds. All are located along Skyline Drive: Big Meadows (Milepost 51), Lewis Mountain (Mile 57.5), Loft Mountain (Mile 79.5), and Mathews Arm (Mile 22.2). Hookups for electricity, sewage, and water are not provided. A 14-day limit is in effect from June 1 to October 31. Lewis Mountain and Loft Mountain are available first come, first served. You can reserve spots at Big Meadows - necessary during high season.

Daily: 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Eastern Time 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Pacific Time Reservation Center CLOSED Christmas and New Year's Day.

The National Park Reservation Service (NPRS) and the National Park Service (NPS) have implemented a reservation window to make booking your camping reservations more convenient. On the 15th of each month, campers will have access to an entire month of available start dates -up to three months in advance (see schedule below) -except Katmai National Park. You may book reservations as late as 1 day prior to arrival, subject to availability.

Dundo Campground is available for organized groups. For reservation call (540) 298-9625. The campground has pit toilets and running water.
Backcountry camping is possible throughout the park. A free camping permit, required for all backcountry camping, can be obtained at entrance stations, visitor centers, park headquarters, and a variety of other locations or by mail from the park.
Hotel-style overnight lodging can be had at Skyland Lodge (Mileposts 41-43) and at Big Meadows Lodge (Mile 51.2). You can rent cottages at Lewis Mountain (Mile 57.5). Call (800) 999-4714 to make reservations.
Food service, gift shops, service stations, and facilities for campers -- such as grocery and camping supply stores, laundry, and ice and wood sales -- are at various points along Skyline Drive. Horseback trips are offered at Skyland Lodge. All facilities are open in summer, some are open in spring and fall, and most are closed during January and February.
