This 1,255 acre park, located on SC 174, 50 miles southeast of Charleston off US 17, was developed in the 1930's by the CCC. The park includes 1 1/2 miles of beach, a live oak forest and some of the tallest palmetto trees in South Carolina. The park includes 103 campsite (about 1/2 supporting RV's) and cabins. Recreation activities include hiking the 4 mile Spanish Mound trail, biking, surf and salt water marsh fishing, boating, picnicking and swimming.

Located 16 miles east of Beaufort on US Highway 21, this popular park is know for its rich variety of flora and fauna. The park includes the only lighthouse in South Carolina that is open to the public, the Hunting Island lighthouse. This 19th century lighthouse provides beautiful views of the coastline. The park features 200 campsites (with RV hookups) and 20 cabins, though please note that 90 percent of available sites are by reservation only. Primitive camping is also allowed. Recreation activities include a four-mile (one way) hiking/biking trail and a boardwalk that extends into the salt water march (excellent for wildlife viewing). You will also find good fishing at a private pier, at Johnson Creek, the lagoon or the ocean. Other activities include boating, picnicking and swimming.

Myrtle Beach State Park is located 4 miles south of Myrtle Beach on US Business 17 (94 miles from Charleston). This popular park is comprised of 312 acres and is one of the last remaining natural areas on the Northern South Carolina coast. Accommodations at the park include 302 campsites, cabins and a few apartments. Recreational activities include the 3/4 mile Sculptured Oak Nature trail, picnicking, swimming and pier or surf fishing for flounder, king mackerel, whiting, trout, spots, Spanish mackerel, drum and blues.
