Face: 3.5 miles, 1,840 feet

This circular ridge walk with impressive views keeps you high and provides a unique approach to Evans' summit. Start at Summit Lake and walk north along the east side of the lake for 0.25 mile to the 12,876-foot saddle between Mount Warren and Mount Spalding. Climb west for 1.0 mile up Spalding's east ridge to Spalding's 13,842-foot summit. The view of Evans' north face is spectacular from this ridge. Descend 0.25 mile south to the 13,580-foot EvansSpalding Saddle. Climb south for an additional 0.3 mile and join Evans' West Ridge Route. Follow that route east along the famous ridge to Evans' summit. For solitude, return the same way. To complete a circle tour and considerably shorten your return, descend the Northeast Face Route.

* Variation: From Echo Lake Trailhead: 17.0 miles, 5,460 feet; with descent of Northeast Face: 15.5 miles, 5,040 feet.

Summit Ridge provides a roadless, alpine finish to the Chicago Creek Route. Follow the Chicago Creek Route to 13,060 feet on Mount Warren's west ridge. Descend west to the WarrenSpalding Saddle and continue on the Summit Ridge Route to Evans' summit.
