Sixteen Orlando Area State Park Campgrounds

Florida Camping

You can camp in Florida at any timethe weather's fine! Most campgrounds are open all twelve months with the busiest time coming during the winter months, mainly January through April. A few close during the summer, when it can get quite hotfor example, the average daily maximum temperature in July is 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another thing we have found is that many of the best campgrounds are located in state parks. The drawback is that the demand is high on weekends and holidays so we urge you to try and make reservations, especially at the more popular places. All state parks accept reservations no more than 11 months in advance of your stay.

We are also particularly fond of state parks because they seek to maintain a setting as it looked when the first Europeans arrived in Florida the century after Columbus.

With this in mind then, here are some wonderful state park campgrounds in the Orlando area.
