City Experts Find Outdoor Recreation Activities In Nine Top Markets in U.S.
NEW YORK, March 16, 2001 - How about hiking Atlanta's Amicalola Falls, or biking Boston's Middlesex Fells Reservation or how about trying a wilderness hike through Houston's flowering dogwoods and resplendent redbuds at San Houston National Forest. These are just some of the top ten weekend activities picked by GORP.com's new City Experts.
GORP, the leading Internet site dedicated to outdoor recreation and adventure travel, added nine regional experts to its Weekend Getaway resources. These experts are responsible for posting monthly top ten outdoor recreation activities and suggestions for their home cities.
"Our mission is to give people the resources they need to enjoy the outdoors," said Bill Greer, founder and CEO of GORP.com. "People have been coming to GORP for years looking for ideas and tips on places to go that are sometimes on the other side of the world. It makes sense that we would provide the same resource for those weekend warriors looking to add some adventure in their own back yard."
The local experts from nine cities include Lincoln Bates in Atlanta, Steve Jermanok in Boston, Peter Strazzabosco in Chicago, Clair Walter in Denver, Wendee Holtcamp in Houston, Ann Marie Brown in San Francisco, Kimberley Lisagor in Los Angeles, Dave Lutz in New York and Tim Braun in Portland. Other city experts will be added in the coming months.
Each month, the experts will submit their top ten their picks for outdoor recreation in their city. GORP currently provides stories and resources on outdoor recreation in more than 34 cities, and weekend getaway trip packages to nearly 30 cities.
