Nordic Skiing Trails in New York State
Anyone who has read Mark Helprin's Winter's Tale senses the shroud of snow that can bury upstate New York. Helprin paints a mythical world where a flying white horse guides his sleigh through an icy universe.
For cross-country ski buffs, the frosty New York winter should conjure up images of skiing Nirvana. From the wilderness of the Adirondacks in the far north to the Catskills a short trip from the Big Apple, New York has trails for every taste and skill level.
The trails below will tell you where to head in each part of the state. But remember, there is nothing like first-hand, up-to-date reports before you strap on your skis. So, be sure to check locally for the latest routes and conditions.
