Track Wildlife in Okefenokee
By Karin Madison

Get friendly with Okefenokee wildlife. Head to the famed swamp to track armadillos in the waning twilight hours. Nature's smallest tank makes its home on the 700-square mile swamp, finding shelter under fallen trees and brush. Grab a guide for a nighttime hike (near the entrance to the swamp) and head out in search of the insect eaters, which venture into the open in search of juicy grubs on the roots of plants and flowers. Not enough? Head to the park early and grab a canoe to see the rest of the park's inhabitants. Follow the Suwannee Canal to view the Okefenokee's water- and land-bound inhabitants like alligators, otters, egrets, storks, black bears, and raccoons.
