Bear Lake

A 107-acre Commission managed impoundment in Blackwater River State Forest off SR4, east of Munson. Has historically provided an excellent bluegill fishery. Excellent camping facilities available. Spring is the best time to catch both bream and bass. Earthworms and crickets are the best bream bait. Bass can be caught on artificial worms. Catfish have been stocked and can be caught bottom fishing with earthworms and chicken livers.

Blackwater River

Reached at Milton over U. S. Hwy 90. Excellent sites for camping and picnicking. Several stretches too shallow for motorized boats in the dry season. The lower section of the river provides the best fishing. Bluegill and redbreast sunfish can be caught in the spring and early summer on beetle spins, crickets and earthworms. Bass fishing is fair in the spring. Best baits are artificial worms and crankbaits.
