Lynn Setzer has been hiking bits and pieces of the Appalachian Trail since 1990. In mid 1995, she was seized with the compelling desire to either thru-hike the AT or write a book. She chose the middle ground between the two strong desires and wrote a book about the class of 1996 Appalachian Trail thru-hikers. A Season on the Appalchian Trail is that book.
Although Lynn is not a thru-hiker herself -- her accumulated AT mileage is about 400 miles -- she has collected the voices of 367 hikers who attempted a thru-hike in 1996. The hikers tell their story step-for-step as events occurred.
Lynn enjoys many outdoor activites, including cycling, both road and mountain, and sea kayaking. But hiking is her favorite pastime. Her favorite trail? "Don't make me choose!! As long as I get to put on my boots and worry about whether I'll get blisters, I'm happy!"
