Close to Denver and just 21 miles from Boulder (you can even get here via Boulder bus), this frill-free area offers unsurpassed convenience. The frontside trails are narrow classics cascading down to a small base complex, while Corona Bowl and the Indian Peaks Area on the backside offer true challenge and sensational views of the mnemonic Indian Peaks Wilderness.
Where: Three miles from Nederland and 21 miles from Boulder, via Colorado 119.
What's There: 1,400-foot vertical drop, 52 trails, 680 acres, two quad chairlifts, one triple, four doubles, three surface lifts, three terrain parks, half-pipe.
What's New: Eldora has upgraded its access road and added 600 free parking spaces, not inconsequential in a state where major resorts are adding pay lots and garages.
Season: End of November to Mid-April.
Snowboarding: Three terrain parks and a half-pipe. Clinics are available.
Terrain: Beginner 20%, Intermediate 50%, Advanced 20%, Expert 10%.
Average Annual Snowfall: Eldora Mountain Resort receives approximately 300 inches of snow per season.
Ski School: There are 120 ski school staff members, many part-time. Their Wednesday Women's Series is one of Colorado's biggest. This resort offers handicap ski school lessons.
