Hours: Open year-round 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
Fees: Entrance to the park is $5 for a three-day pass.
Side Trips
Hikes: The Maryland Heights trail is 6.5 miles round-trip and fairly strenuous. It passes the remains of Civil War forts and campsites, and rewards hikers with a spectacular view of the two rivers. For a less strenuous hike, try the Bolivar Heights trail, which is 1.5 miles long.

Special events include Earth Day activities, July 4th events, a "Keeping Christmas" living-history event, and various other historical activities.
Directions to Next Stop
Harpers Ferry to Antietam National Battlefield: Total distance: 18 miles. Estimated driving time: 35 minutes.
Turn right out of the park onto U.S. 340 North.
Merge onto MD 67 North. Drive for approximately 6.1 miles, passing the turn for Gathland State Park.
Turn left onto Trego Rd. Proceed for 2 miles.
Turn left onto Potterstown Rd.
Turn left onto New Burnside Bridge Rd.
New Burnside Bridge Rd. becomes South Church St.
S. Church St. becomes N. Church St.
Turn right into park entrance.
Alternate Route
Small, windy back roads are great, but if you wish to avoid them use the following (slightly longer) alternative route:
Turn right out of the park onto U.S. 340 North.
Merge onto MD 67 North.
Turn left onto U.S. 40 ALT West.
Turn left onto MD 34 West.
MD 34 becomes Main St.
Turn right onto MD 65 (N. Church St.).
Turn right into park entrance.
